2021 has been quite friendly so far in terms of weather, for healthy crops. The frequent spring rains created water supplies in the soil which could be useful for vine irrigation during the months with lower rain quantities, such as July and August. The high temperatures from the harvesting period can affect the production quality. To prevent this situation and ensure that the grapes keep the flavors we try to harvest in the morning, as early as possible, considering that the temperature differences between night and day are quite high, with 10-15 C degrees variations.
For us, a healthy, well normed crop, 8-10 t/ha, is crucial to obtain high quality wines, typical to Dealu Mare vineyards and to every wine type from our vineyards. That is why we pay a lot of attention to the entire production process, starting from the vine pruning in December-February until the vine stump norming, 6-8 t/ha, which happens during this time of the year. It is very important to go through these stages focusing on our objective, creating exceptional wines, appreciated by consumers all over the world and awarded in international competitions: fresh, fruity and very expressive white wines, intense red wines in color, well structured, fruity and balanced with soft tannins.
